There are certain items that, when you see them, you automatically associate them with a certain place or a specific state. We thought it would be fun to ask our Instagram followers which things are uniquely Utah, and we think they nailed it!
Jello
You can’t think of Utah without thinking “Jello”. Jello salads, Jello molds, Jello cupcakes, Jello fluff, Jello cakes….you get the idea. If it can have Jello in it, Utah has probably tried it out. Ask any Utahan about “pretzel salad”, and they will immediately know what that means. (If you don’t already know what it is, you need it in your life. It’s delicious.)
Soda Shops
Forget Starbucks, because Utah is all about giant cookies and sodas. Every corner has a new soda shop, and there’s a good reason why! They are wildly popular, especially to the moms needing their 32 oz caffeine hit in the middle of the day.
Fry Sauce
Fry sauce is a must at every burger joint serving fries in Utah. Utahans are crazy about it. Fries, tots, and more–there is no limit to what can and will be dipped in that goodness.
Honey
With a name like “Beehive State”, honey is definitely going to make our list of things that are uniquely Utah. From backyard beekeepers to those that raise them professionally, honey is not hard to find around here. Utahans like to use it in a lot of different ways, but honey butter on scones feels like the most “Utah” way to eat it.
Funeral Potatoes
Funeral Potatoes for sure are a Utah staple because they can be found at just about every family reunion, funeral, or Sunday dinner.
